Water Task Force Initiative

Prince of Peace is committed to protecting God’s good creation both as an EarthCare congregation and as a Water Conservation Congregation….

In Genesis 2, God commands humanity to be caretakers over Creation, like estate
managers for the Lord. That commission includes taking care of the waters of the earth
to ensure that they are clean and accessible for all living things.

Responding to this divine commission, church members approved pursuing an
Environmental Initiative for Water Conservation at a congregational meeting in
December 2024 and created a Living Water Conservation Task Force to explore
possible actions related to this initiative. After considering many options, the task force
recommended two local areas of focus, and one global one, which the leadership of the
church and the congregation have since accepted:

1) Watershed Discipleship - There are 12 watersheds in Anne Arundel County.
These waters give life to all living things within them. Prince of Peace is committed to learning more about local watersheds and working with the Bureau of Watershed Conservation and Restoration to help educate others about the need to preserve and protect them, as well as participate in restoration projects when that option is available.

2) Interfaith Partners of the Chesapeake (IPC) - Prince of Peace has pledged to become a “Partner Congregation” with this organization dedicated to the waters of the Chesapeake Bay area. We have members training to become “Faithful Green Leaders” who, under their guidance of IPC, will connect us with various water remediation and conservation initiatives in the area.

3) Water.org - Prince of Peace is committed to working to provide clean drinking water in areas of the world where this is a challenge, by supporting the efforts of Water.org.

At Prince of Peace, we love showing our love for God and Creation through environmental stewardship and are enthusiastic about taking care of our water resources through these organizations. You can join us by participating in one of our educational or restoration activities (which we will publish on this and the events page), becoming a part of our congregation and making environmental stewardship part of your discipleship of

Jesus Christ, or contributing financially to these missions.
