About the Event
January's book is West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge.
In 1938, Hitler is threatening Europe, and Depression-weary Americans long for some good news. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane at sea and the twelve-day road trip across America to the San Diego Zoo. Inspired by real-life events, the book explores what it means to be changed by the grace of animals, the kindness of strangers, and the power of love.
