Do we lay our coats solely at Jesus’ feet, or more often at the feet of other powers and principalities? Do we keep our cloaks wrapped tightly around our own shoulders like the Jewish authorities in Jerusalem did, hoping to retain their power? Do we scatter multiple coats across our days, tossing around our allegiances as the moment suits as if these pledges of allegiance have nothing to do with our relationship with God? Do we keep them at home in our closets because we are unable or unwilling to commit to anything or anyone?
